Brave & Broken was written by my mother after a picture of me carrying my friend Dave Greenslade, during his ramp ceremony in Afghanistan, had been used on the front page of many of Canada’s newspapers, including our local paper. Her words show a hardship of war that is often overlooked, the struggle of those waiting at home wishing they could be there for those they love.
