On March 6th, 2007 Canadian forces in Afghanistan took part in the largest Nato led Operation conducted during the war in Afghanistan. The mission of the operation was to clear the Helmand province of Taliban.
On April 8th, 2007, while taking part in OP Achilles, callsign 22B (said 2 - 2 -Bravo) struck an improvised explosive device (I.E.D) which killed 6 Canadian soldiers. Aaron Williams, Chris Stannix, Brent Poland, Donnie Lucas, Dave Greenslade and Kevin Kennedy were all lost on that day.
